How To Use and Adjust The Thermal Settings of Autel 640T Series Drones?

Autel EVO II Dual 640T series drones are the most classic and practical thermal imaging drones. With Autel IRPC software tools, they can help companies use them for drone thermal inspections and public safety use cases.

Here, we will fully explain the thermal settings in each IRPC tool.

First, take a look at a picture of a 640T series drone taking a thermal image.

The operating options of the drone and the thermal tool settings and parameters are mostly displayed at the top and right of the screen. After the first turn on, all functions and settings are in the default state. You can adjust and save them for next use.

Flat field correction (FFC)

Flat field correction (FFC)

Flat field correction (FFC) can reduce and compensate for errors accumulated over time during the operation of the thermal imager. This operation is automatically performed in the background, and you can also turn it off.

Picture-in-Picture Mode

Visual and thermal imagery are combined to help users quickly interpret data and critical decision making. From top to bottom are "Picture in Picture Mode", "infraed More", and "visible Light Mode"

Spot Temperature Measurement

Tap the screen, and the temperature of the selected object will be displayed in real time.

Regional Temperature Measurement

Get a dynamic view of the average temperature, maximum temperature, and minimum temperature displayed in a selected area.

The temperature measurement frame can be dragged to any position on the screen.

Temperature Warning

Monitors the screen temperature in real time. The system prompts the user when the temperature reaches a set thresholds

Note: The temperature alarm takes effects only in Regional temperature measurement mode.

Image Enhancement

Supports real-time adjustment of image brightness, contrast, and image details. The system will highlight any objects within the temperature target.

10 Thermal Color Palettes

Thermal palette is a visual representation of the temperature changes captured by the thermal camera. Different thermal palettes will present different color contrasts to better highlight the ambient temperature changes.

Ten thermal palettes: White Hot | Cold and Hot | Rainbow | Enhanced Rainbow | Iron bow | Lava | Arctic | Searing | Gradation | Heat Detection

4x Lossless Zoom

The Autel EVO II Dual 640T series supports 1-16x zoom, 4X lossless zoom, and includes a visual camera and thermal imager.

Isotherm

This function is used to set the temperature range, and the system will detect any object within the specified temperature range. The threshold range is -70-500℃, which is very effective for personnel search and rescue, flame temperature detection situational awareness.

Radiometric Temperature Range

Temperature range High gain mode: -20° to +150°
Low gain mode: 0° to +550°

High gain mode: suitable for measuring lower temperature objects, providing higher temperature resolution, but saturation may occur under high temperature conditions.

Low gain mode: suitable for measuring higher temperature objects to prevent saturation, but the temperature resolution is low for low temperature scenes.

Automatic gain mode: The thermal imager automatically adjusts the gain, which is suitable for changing temperature environments, but may not provide the best results in all scenarios.

General settings

Grid On / Off
Histogram On / Off
Lock gimbal while shooting: On / Off
Video encoding format MOV / MP4 (Support H.264/H.265)
Temperature measurement accuracy ±3℃ or ±3% of reading (whichever is greater) @Environmental temperature-20℃~60℃
Accurate temperature measurement distance 2-20 meters
Photo format JPG (with irg file)
Save location SD card

Thermal emissivity

Thermal emissivity is the efficiency of measuring the thermal radiation emitted by an object. Adjusts to match the camera readings to the true temperature of the object. Higher values mean the camera is more sensitive to temperature changes. Lower values mean the camera is less sensitive to temperature changes.

Special note: The new Autel EVO MAX series drones, EVO Lite 640T Enterprise are also thermal imaging drones, using smart remote controls and Autel Enterprise App, and the use of IRPC tools is similar.
