The EVO Nano series and EVO Lite series of drones were announced by Autel Robotics in September 2021, but officially went on sale during CES in January 2022, with several perfect drone models in sight. Like DJI's Mavic 3 models, these models arrive without some features that were added via a firmware update. The company released firmware version 1.2.16 for EVO Lite series models (Lite and Lite+) and 1.2.14 for EVO Nano series models (Nano and Nano+), highlighting some new features.
The biggest highlight of the Lite+ is Dynamic Track 2.1, a technology similar to DJI's ActiveTrack that allows the drone to follow some objects defined by the pilot. However, this technology is currently only available on the EVO Lite+ model and, according to the firmware announcement, only focuses on people. It's the drone we have, so we'll be doing some testing over the next few days. Questions remain to what extent the company will release this feature to other models, and when it can be used to track more than just people.
The "Tracking" function is activated through an option in the main menu located on the right side of the AUTEL SKY app screen, not all models have all functions, such as Dynamic Track which is only available for the EVO Lite+, but the EVO Nano+ mini drone is available via PDAF + CDAF The dual autofocus system also tracks fast-moving subjects with incredible precision.
